The UK is opening up plug-in solar

The DESNZ Interim Product Specification closed to responses on 30 June 2026, and the government has confirmed kits are coming to UK shops this year. The compliant route to install in 2026 remains a CPS-registered electrician with a hardwired connection: BS 1363 (UK 13A plugs and sockets) and BS 7671 (wiring regulations) do not currently authorise plugging small generators into a wall socket.
